To The Members of Berkshire Lakes:

Summer is here and I might add in full force, it's not an understatement to say it's going to be a record breaker.  However we are not alone facing the hot weather our seasonal residents now back north have also been experiencing extremely hot weather with temperatures around 100 degrees.  You just can't dodge Mother Nature.

As reported in our last newsletter the entrance walls have been upgraded and the wall lighting improved.  We are now ready for the final phase of the project, a rework of the entrance ways landscaping. A professionally designed rendering is on display in the Master Association clubhouse for your review. Landscape contractors will be asked to bid on the project, once received they will be reviewed by our finance committee and their analysis and recommendation will be presented to your board of directors for approval. We are anxious to get this project completed while we have the benefit of the rainy season and prior to the return of our seasonal residents.

The tennis court entrance gates have been upgraded and enhanced gate locks installed.  The unsightly cables with the second lock have been eliminated.

New signs have been installed at the Master Association Pool stating the pool is only for Berkshire Lakes residents.  This was necessary as non Berkshire Lakes residents were found using the pool. Non residents were also found using the pool at Melrose gardens as well. Signs are necessary but not the total solution therefore we are in the process of upgrading the entrance gates and installing locks. Keys will be made available to Berkshire Lakes residents on demand.

As many of our residents know the Belville Lake fountain  has  been out of service for some weeks.  When first reported, a repair was scheduled however it was determined the fountain was beyond repair. Your board solicited bids for a replacement fountain.  Today the new fountain was put into operation and by initial reports is vastly superior in operation and appearance more water jets, more lights.  The cost of the new fountain was funded from our reserve accounts which are more than adequately funded.

Finally, we are in possession of the necessary permits and will begin to remove the 13 trees along the Santa Barbara corridor which have been deemed a safety hazard. Those homes on Henley Drive backing up to Santa Barbara Blvd. are being notified of this activity.

Respectively submitted,

Robert (Bob) Luparello
